yah im not a moron ignoring the obvious, and ive been modding for a while. my hmt 3 and 3.1 both dont rebuild the ice maps (sidewinder, icefields, etc.) it says dependency missing. i have to go through and manually extract the files myself (which takes like 45 misn) and in the end it always gives me an exception error.
anyone help?

well in order to rebuild u have to batch extract it in the first place and rebuild the map that u put in the same folder as the extracted files
and then replace that with the one in your maps folder

sometimes when batch extracting, the map might need something from the bitmaps or sounds maps, so batch extract from a folder that has all of them, then try to rebuild from what ever folder you batch extracted to

I think it's because of the snow things...

I've had a similar problem but its just whenever i try to rebuild anymap. It says that the level will be missing a dependicy or something. And i know im doin everything like batch extracting and all that right but for some reason it doesn't want to work.

It's probably that the ice causes problems with dependancies or something, but, have you modded the levels in some way? Because you can't batch extract maps that have been modded....

ah ok then that would be why its not working cause im working on this awesome timberland mod but then i wanted to add some stuff from other levels but it wasn't working but i guess that makes sense that you have to batch extract it before you do any mods to the level.
Is there any way you can do it after you have modded a level??

Don't think so, you have to start again ...
It's always good to have a backup batch extracted map, so you can start again.
I would advise to plan exactly what you are doing with mods, so that you know which elements need to be done from that phase, and then move on to importing models over models etc and general editing of things.
Things like adding elements from other levels and duplication requires obviously to add it into the map structure, therefore you can't add something in, and then re-batch extract etc.
Bit of planning is required thats all.
Edit: Here's a link to a thread that mentioned the sidewinder/ice fields etc bug, with a solution for those having problems batch extracting...

I think sidewinder has invalid tag names. Or thats what someone said on and HMT forum.
