Demo modding help

So i just started last night, but i have general knowledge of skinning and modding and whatnot, since ive done it for a few other games (Allied Assault mostly.) I downloaded the demo a few days ago, and while looking for stuff about the full version, i came across hackhalo.com, but now im here...ok.. on to what my problem is.
I know that the offsets for the demo arent around, so ive been trying to do somethings myself, and id like to know if im doing them right or not, or what i might be doing wrong.
First off, i just want to start simple like having the warthog fire rockets(read thr tutorial here) So i went to find, to find a text string. I searched for "rocket" and i found all these things determining what happens when a rocket hits dirt, or water etc. But i can't seem to find what to replace with what. I need to replace the rocket projectile right? i cant find that or the warthog projectile. Any help to what i should look for or something like that? because ive replaced the scorpion something with the assault rifle something, and it seems like nothing is different (although my assault rifle blows smoke out of the barrel when I fire, but i think thats normal)

hey - no prob, mang!
for future reference- if anyone needs web space (for relatively small files (max 10 MB)), i'll be happy to store them.

just email me at
[email protected] or PM me via this messageboard. ...or if you want, you're all welcome to come spam at my messageboard here:

i've got my account through phpwebhosting.com and they're really cool about space requests. they start you off with 100 MB for $9/mo. (unlimited bandwidth!) and if you need more, they'll give you more for free. you'll need a better reason than filehosting, though, if you request more space.

hmm, I'm having problems here...
I think i did everything the tut told me to do, but the darn thing isn't working.
If I understand this corrrectly, in order for a pistol to shoot rockets in BG I:
find projectile offset value for the pistol bullet.
replace value with value of projectile for rocket.
make backup.
save.
despite all this effort, the game thinks that I didn't change anything... help?

when i'm back at my uni on monday, (where i have the demo downloaded) i'll go ahead and hexedit most of the weapons to fire tank shells identically to the "Excessive" mod i made for the full version.
i'll reply to this thread when i have it uploaded for all to try out.

i can't wait to see people's reactions when i start up a server and they blow themselve's sky-high!
always funny when they come running at me and commit suicide whilst trying to frag me. lolleroo!

okay. back at school.
but i did manage to create an identical "Excessive" mod for Bloodgulch for the Halo Trial Version.
http://graphicintegrity.net/downloads/h ... _trial.rar
Right-click Save As.
i changed all of the human weapons to fire tank shells. tried it out this morning and it's a blast! ....literally...

use hexworkshop, you can get it from
www.downloads.com
one of the great features is the file compare, so you can download a ppf, patch, then compare to the original and see exactly what was done.
