Broken Halo

I saw a mod a long time ago,it was of bloodgulch and had a list of changed things about it,one of which was the actual halo ring itself being broken,like your on bloodgulch after the ring had been destroyed by MC(anyone know which one im talking about?).I was wondering how to make the ring look broken like that,as if your on a piece of halo floating around in space.....would be cool to maybe change bloodgulch from day to night then change the ring to look broken like that.
