how do i change names

How can i change the name of the pistol and stuff to like Death Pistol?
u cant change names of anything to longer than they originally are (in PC at least, but u can in CE i think). for example you could not change "warthog" to "pimp mobile" because pimp mobile is lonnger than warthog. but u could change it to jeephog or just plain jeep
..anyways u need a hex editor and there are tutorials here somewhere
