remodeling weapons

hey all! here's a question. I'm trying to make the plasma pistol longer, so i extracted both the fp and 3p models and lengthened them. so i go in and start the game and they look like normal plasma rifles unless i look from a certain angle, then they look like the remodeled version. does anyone know why this is or how to fix it?
