Does anyone here know how to extract and edit Halo sound files, or a program or editor that does that? I searched for this on Google, Yahoo, and aton of other forums for hours and I couldn't find anything. Please help, and don't flame cuz I am new here.

Its not illegal, its just hardly anyone edits sounds these days. Yes there are editors out there. What I did when I edited sounds was I made custom sounds then I imported them over current sounds in HMT, it didnt work that well, but it worked nonetheless. All you need is a converter for the soundtype that halo uses (forgot what it was) and HMT.

How can you replace them? That is what I really meant... That is all I want to do. Does anyone know how?

Yea but in HMT some of the files are in ADPCM and contain multiple tracks! Some of the files (like the assualt rifle fire) contain like 5 diffrent sounds and each one I extract have weird extensions like this

I extract the file called m60_1 and the file on my desktop is named
fire.m60_1 . Now how do I turn this into something I can play, then edit it and put back in halo?

I can edit it in vegas 6.0a but I dont know how to read the file!

All I wan't to do is make my own files, and then replace some of the marines yelling and some of the conversations that take place.
