I already have installed the DDS plugin for photoshop to edit them. But I want to know if I can edit them and put them back into the game. Also if I can create a object and create a DDS skin and replace it with one of objects in the game. (ie...vehicles, weapons, other) I heard that milkshake is the best but is it the best for what I want to do? And is that even posible?

I'm going to use photoshop to edit the dds(texture) and use a 3d modeling program to apply the DDS then export a model.(I think thats how you do it) What I want to know is how to do this. Does the DDS get exported in with the model or do I need to add that separately. And what program would be the best to make the 3d models? Milkshake or something else?

You cant make models from scratch only remodel the current. You cant use 3dsm because on exporting it will ad verts, so you need to use milkshape. On the other hand if you have alot of free time you could learn how to use halo ce then make custom weapon tags anf convert your map from ce to pc and pmi them into a real map.

Thanks! I acutally have quite alot of free time. So I think I'll try both milkshake with halo and start learning CE.
Is there a tutorial for milkshake on this forum and is halo CE free?

Your best bet is to get 3DSMAX cheap, I keep hearing things about students getting those things cheap. Or try the free trial at... ehm... The creators' site
