Vertices Problem...

In MilkShape 3D, I edited the appearance of the rocket launcher to look cooler. I was able to inject a different model of it, but with my better one it says there are too many more vertices than the original model. I was wondering if it is possible to keep the same look but decrease the amount of vertices so that I can inject it into the game. Oh yea, I use the Halo PC Trial Version to mod as practice before modding my xbox. So that is the game I'm trying to put it in to.
