Help a newbie modder out...

Hey guys. I need some help. I own Halo and Halo 2 for the Xbox. I also have a subscription to Xbox Live. But that's not why I'm here. I don't have the money or graphics capability to get Halo for the PC. So, I settled with the trial. It seems to have enough people to play online and I can use Halo Map Tools to mess around with some stuff. Here's my question:
Using Halo Map Tools (or another program that wouldn't be extremely hard to use) is there a way where I could get a model for the pelican, import it into HMT and replace the machine gun warthog with a pelican? I tried looking through my Halo Trial folder, but I can't find it.
Thanks for any help.

I think Halo PC trial comes with The Silent Cartographer as well which contains the Pelican. If I'm not mistaken, it's call the b30.map in the full version. Try opening up that in HMT.

Yes, I've tried that. I opened Silent Cartographer in HMT and went to the vehicles branch. They had a pelican branch. I had seen another post in this forum that just said copy the meta and put it in place of say a warthog in multiplayer. I tried that, and it came up with an exception...

Why is it that EVERY time I try to open a HaloPC map in HMTv3.5 it says "not a valid Halo map file".

What map are you trying to open? If it is bitmaps.map sounds.map it won't work. If that's not teh case get a fresh copy of teh map you are trying to edit.

I've read some other topics and they say that the map needs to have a "slot" for the pelican or else it won't work. Is there a way I can create one? I've also seen people talk about SparkEdit, and using it with the "messy way" of getting a pelican in. Could someone please elaborate?

I'm not sure about this, but I think you can use any graphics card for Halo pc, just if you want it to look the best you get the graphics card. And Halo pc does'nt cost that much either, I got mine for $8.

None HMT's TRUE editing powers are capably with trial, all you can do is meta swap, and play around with the tag editor.
Now that does not mean getting the pelican in BG is impossible, you just cant use HMT. You would have to PMI it by hand (lot and lots and lots and lots of hex editing) dont ask how i dont know, im not that expereicned with hexediting.

As far as i'm aware, you cant rebuild trial maps. I may be (and probably am) wrong, but I dont think its possible.

you cant PMUI with the trial. Only with the FULL version using HMT V3.5
