Ummm... can't you just open up the original map in HMT and extract the level's BSP/Model Sections like you did before and then toss out the old one? If its a bsp.meta you're talking about that came from a decrapped model, just decrap the model again and get the new bsp.

So do you mean that it says blah.txt or that when you double click it, it opens notepad. If it is the second one then you can still rebuild the map. Nothing should stop you from doing that.

do you re-name the sbsp file at all? otherwise, if it does that every time, there must be some really weird bug with hmt, and i mean REALLY weird

If you are running WindowsXP then this will help you. If not then tell me what operating system you are using. http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... duct=winxp
Once you go there and follow the instruction to get to the page with all the extensions on it then find the sbsp extension and delete it if it is there. It should be there because you changed that extension to open with a notepad file.

And btw it is no bug in HMT.

What do you mean? Go to My Computer>>Tools>>Folder Options>>Click the View tab>>Clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box>>Go to File Types>>Now find the sbsp file extension and delete it.
