Contrails changing...

I was wondering how to (if it's even possible) give a contrail the actve camo effect so you see a tube of distortion-ness. (Anyone who's seen screens of F.E.A.R will know what I mean.)
Swapping would just screw it up, wouldn't it?

Impossible. Active Camo uses a special refraction-effect that use used in certain rasterizer codes.

as far as i know, there is a contrail bitmap and something in the contrail tag section in hmt that tells it how to behave and alter the bitmap in real-time.

He is trying to achieve refraction, which is not "just" a bitmap. It is a Pixel Shader effect in the Engine, and cannot be "applied" to anything. The only thing it works for is models, not single-textures.

from what i know contrails work as non colision polys rendered in a stream coming out of the back of a banshee or bullet

he could imitate the effect... he could create a new effect, that makes everything fuzzy... like the heat coming off of a road on a hot day
