Use 3DS Max for Custom (Halo CE) models.

Use Milkshape 3D for editing already-made models (Halo PC). But make sure you don't delete, add, or extrude any vertices.

are you sure there isnt ne thing else i could use other then milkshape cus it kinda sucks.... 3ds max is simple and easy to navigate around the model ... milkshape is like zooming in for ages and it zooms in like 1 mm even though you are really close.oh .. yea and milkshape ran out on me so.... and i have no idea how to make ce maps cus i go wrong somewhere when i do it

You can use 3DSMax as long as the model will be an obj when imported.

No, because in PC, you are "raw" editing models. It's build, models, markers, nodes, UV code, and seperation are already present. So, it only allows you to "move" verts around in different areas.

So, if you did manage, you'd have one f'ed up model from the fact that it wasn't built properly from an original tag format.
