I got the plasma sword... Here's how.

As you can see it isn't done... but it's there! All you gotta do really export the sword model, reajust the groups and then inject it into the plasma rifle. Now this is the tricky part. It took me a while to figure this one out but this is what you must do:
-Find how many "groups" are in the model. (plasma rifle has 5)
-For each group find the maximum amount of vertices.
-Rearange the ORDER that the groups came in to fit the limits of the plasma rifle fp model.
-->This is kinda hard to explain. For example, group 0 and group 2 of the plasma rifle have the most vertices so use those for the "plasma" parts of the sword. (since they have the most vertices) For the handle, add it to a group that it can fit in.
-Now, before you export it, make sure that the polies are facing inwards just like when you import the model.
-Export it back out to an .obj file and then inject it with HMT3.
If you followed these steps you should be able to accomplish that. Now you just need to edit the values so that it can't shoot (it looks kinda cool when it shoots though :]
What's left to do? Skin it. Anyone know how I'd do this?

first you have to unwrap it in max and then apply to texture to the map.

how do we find out how many groups? then how do we find out how many verticies per group? Then how do you rearange the order that the groups came in to fit the limits of the plasma rifle fp model?

Well for example if you open it in milkshape, there is a "groups" tab. It shows how many groups there are. Vertices I'm not sure about but you can go by eye for the most part (especially with this). Rearranging the groups is tricky. What you have to do is find the first group that is out of place. Now you need to do a "duplicate" so it puts a copy of that group at the end of the list. Then delete the original and you're one step closer to having them in order. Just keep doing that until it comes in the right order.
When you're done object_0 should be in group 1's place, and object_1 and object_2 should be in group 0's and group 2's place. I believe that's how it should be...
Now I'm gonna go try and skin this...

Well I skinned it in Milkshape and when I inject the model back in the texture is still all screwed up. I aligned it on a 512x512 "plasma rifle_fp1" image so I don't see why it isn't reading the texture coordinates in game...

Can ya give me the map with the PS and the PS 1stperson model?

I would if someone would help me find out how to skin it. Once I skin it I'll release this. Then I'll proceed to make other weapon mods. (Working Gravity Rifle anyone?)

Someone make a ppf, this sounds really cool.
Also, how do you get the "glow effect" that the sword has? As in, on another /texture/bitmap? How could I make something else glow blue?

Right now I'm still having a lot of trouble figuring some of this out.
I had to delete the little "balls" holding the plasma and reshape the grip so that it would allow me to inject it. How to add a glow? I dunno yet. There is still a lot to be experimented with.

try using the tutorial on modeling recently posted

That tutorial is basic. It's just a more drawn out and explanitory version of what I said at the top of this thread. I got this explained to me though. The texture coordinates are saved as comments and can't be edited or interpreted by the modelling program so atm it's just about impossible.

here's what i did in my two betrayals mod, i went into the light category, and swapped plasma rifle flare with energy sword dynamic, this causes it to cast a blue glow on nearby objects.

ooooo aaaaa lets stare at the plasma rifle.hello! its not in the right position. if u click the melee button u punch with ur lrft arm not usin the sword.and if u fir it shoots the plasma bolts from inbetween the sword... i should know ive done this in multiplayer

do u even play halo ???????? u hit the enemy with the plasma rifle .... ur thinking of the stupid plasma pistol...idiot.... and do u really think that hes gonna leave it so its fires if u read anything that he said u would have saw "As you can see it isn't done"

all he has to do is put the skin on it which can be easly done in hmt change it so it cant fire at all change the damage value of the melee and then change the hud
btw lazer if u give me a pff for that i can change all the stuff left for u.
my AIM is Uber alles xx
