I'm trying to hack the game to allow thirdperson. It seems futile to most, but I'll keep trying until Halo 4 comes out for pc.

We talked about it here a while ago. This topic comes up a lot without anyone willing to devote themselves. I'm alone on this one.

It does come up a lot. But having third person is most difficult because first person runs in a whole different environment. It renders weapons in your hands as seperate models and has tags for weapon sway and all that. Third person would require master chief being seen from a different camera track position and get it to render everything correctly. SO, it's hard...

This may seem impossible, but I've already found the offset address for the switch between firstperson and thirdperson.

All I have left to do is to find the distance float so I can keep MC at a good enough distance for tasty gameplay. :D

I talked to Dave, genius behind the FOV hack, about my idea and he gave me some pointers on how to search them. I asked him if he would make the final hack for me if I found the offsets, and he agreed. It's coming! 8)

Sweet. it would take me forever to get the offsets right.

But to be honest, i don't think third person is going to be as sweet as it seems. And there already are some problems with MC third person because of the aim. If you've ever tried making passenger seat of the warthog third-person with an accurate weapon, you'll notice that it fires somewhat below where the reticles are aimed. This might just be because of the FP to Third Person position of master chief's body but goodluck.

yeah, I've tried the thirdperson seating and found that the aiming was off. maybe I can re-align it somehow. but anyway, baby steps. I'm still searching for that elusive distance variable. thanks for your support! I'm online with Dave right now, we'll figure something out.

You COULD shrink the reticles and then lower them to their limit (so still keeping them there) without going outside the boundaries, and that could compensate for the aim, maybe easier, maybe harder.

I finally did it. Dave did all the dirty work though, he deserves way more credit than I do.

I'm bitterbanana in case you didn't know. But thanks for your support man, I might've given up if I hadn't had someone working on it with me in the early stages. :)

Cool, are you in a mod team? Or do you work with someone? Because if you wanted to, you might be able to join my team and we could finish up our Miracle Day mod that we've been working on for a long time. We're close and we're just doing touch-ups right now but we could be a lot faster together on a new mod.

I'm somewhat on a mod team but not for Halo. It's called Jurassic Rage for Half Life 2. The SDK hasn't come out yet, so I'm just waiting so I can get started. Thanks for the offer, but I might notl have the time. Thanksgiving break is almost over and I haven't touched a lot of my homework yet. :?
What is your mod all about?

Ha ha same here about homework.

A video of the mod will arrive soon but right now it's confidential information. If you have an AIM or MSN or XFIRE or YAHOO account, or if you actually check your private messeges, i can give you a link to the pro-logue. Pictures are coming even sooner but we are always working on it.
