Use low-res models.

Post by nothing4me »

Isn't there a way to force the 3rd level of detail (worst) instead of the 1st or 2nd thus increasing FPS GREATLY?

Reply soon.

There's a model plugin for HHT, look over at halopc.net

I dont know how much better your FPS will be, if it's better at all. You're best off using the lowest graphic settings possible. If it's still running slow, you need a better computer. RAM isn't too expensive really, and isn't hard to install. Save some money up if you have to and go for a trip to best buy

actually there are five levels of detail, and i don't recommend downgrading because the collision model will no longer sync with the model and you will get confused (not to mention it would look like total shit)

having the collision models messed up really won't affect you if you only use it on weapons, it might make it look like a person isn't holding something and it WILL make it look like crap, but wont really affect gameplay any.

Still, saving up and buying RAM is your best bet. Like I said, it's not super expensive, and it's easy to install. If you can work get a job and you can probably get it in less then a week. I just found a gig of RAM right now at bestbuy.com on sale for 30 dollars, normally it's a little over a hundred. Either way, its not that expensive, at most about a week's paycheck to be able to play halo better.

Tried it. Still lags. :(

RAM isn't a problem. I have a 1G. I have an integrated card. :(

using zonealarm, norton or anything like that? maybe its a port issue? and are you doing this on stock halo or is your halo modded? also, what card are you running? your comp ram isnt going to be the big issue here, its the ram your vid card has and what bit it is also.

theres your answer. the only thing you can do is lower the res to its lowest and take off things like specular and shadows. also playing in -windowed mode will help. turn all detail to low and low particles no decals. maybe even turing the sound to low will help. editing a lod isnt going to accomplish anything where theres all the textures to generate.

bottom line.. you need a better card. theres no way around it.
