How Do I change an objects model?

I've heard of people changing the assult rifle and such into real world weapons and stuff like that, I was wondering how I would make a model of a weapon, and put it into the game for multiplayer.

help a n00b please.

This tutorial tells you the general form of exporting and importing models from the halo map file. You'll have to "remodel" the weapon to change it how you want it to be meaning only move verts. So basically you can change the shape but not make new shapes. Then once you're done, you import the new model.
