no, if have mods and join someone elses server your mods dont take effect, however, you will have your mods running. Say you have faster warthogs on, and you join a game in bloodgulch. You get into a warthog, the warthog will go fast, but then it will lag back to the postition it should be in in a normal, non-modded game of bloodgulch.
You can't stop the lag, its gonna happen, just don't go into games with mods on, or start your own game where the mods will work.

well, you could...
1) go to your readers manual and find out how to access the router (idk wut type of router u have so i cant help u there)
2) make copies of all the maps(non-modded) and when you want to play normal, go to your maps folder and copy the modded map and place it somewhere you'll rememeber, the copy and paste the normal map into the maps folder, and you should have the modded map back to normal, while you have the modded map copied somwhere else.
