Help with mods

I know how to mod and I have the tools needed but im just not sure how to use apply mods that i dl

Ok now i do have a prob...
I got the mod working for like 30 secs before my halo dropped and i got data exeption thing. Grr what is that and how can I get rid of that coming up while i play this mod? PLZ help me

What mod is this? Is it a ppf mod? Did you apply it to the correct map? etc...

was the map you applied it to un-modded?
