Do you think humans are or will be in the future Forunners? Things can be explained by this. The reason why MC recognizes forunner symbols, his armor is forunner, monitor acts like MC and UNSC forces are Forunner or hes confused. What i do know is the forunners will be tied into the plot of Halo and Halo 2 maybe Halo 3

maca is right, and if there were to be a third game it would spoil halo.

The forerunners can't be human, because human would imply they lived on earth. Otherwise, they would be something else.

its not for sure taht there wont be a halo 3. i dont remember where, but i heard bungie was known for always making 3 games from a title, and halo 3 would be about them taking over a covenant ship and sneaking into the covenants home planet.

ok they said many times they wont, plus as GHL said it would just make halo suck @$$

Bungie says that if they can add something new, they will make a third,
at least that's what they did with h2

if you have you would know halo2 is the final.

Humans will be Forunners in the future not the present

Thats IF they are Forunners in h2

What symbols did he recognize? And the monitor doesn't act like their the forerunners, he just thinks that they're the ones who came to wipe out the flood. And how could you be a forerunner in the future? the prefix "fore-" implies "before" like forefathers.

Forerunners preceded Humans. They were the most advanced race in the universe. Then they met the Covenant. The covenant were completely inferior. The Covenant were given, slowly, the Forerunner's tech. The Covenant considered the Forerunners god. And they were. Then came the flood. we dont really know how, but I think I once read something about they were created as part of a civil war. Anyway, the Forerunners pretty much died off, but not without
1. declaring that any future variants of themselves were inferior and were to be eradicated
2. breaking off

eventually a part of them managed to evolve into present day humans. humans = forerunner desendants, not the other way around. anyway, the Covenant catch on to the fact that, in fact, they have found a group of (ironically) devolved now-humans, and began the holy eradication.

That was some great explaination of Humans being Forunners.
I know more now. So they devolved and forgot the time of being forunners but still started to get knowledge back to make spaceships.
And they dont become Forunners in the future but have been.

there was a forrunner artifact on sima octanus 4, wasn't there

it was a stone that found the location of halo, infact, the rock had the same type of fuji kowa shaw (or whatever) coordinates as the humans, ant mc's time did.

that is another factor that play's into that.

and the covenant knew what the rock led too, in the book, 2 hunters and some jackals where guarding it, or i should say temporarily holding it. waiting for that cloaked drop/stealth ship thing they have.

I reckon both Humans and Covenant are related. IOW, both are related to Forerunner (Elites and Jackals. Very humanlike, don't you think?)
Edit: I have come to the conclusion that humans are definitely forerunner. I mean, GS speaks perfect english and with a fairly neutral accent, the Sentinels understand english, and so that means there is DEFINITELY a connection.
Edit#2: Just read XI's post, I only skimmed this before. That would make a lot of sense.

i read at bungie somewhere that they 'think' that the brutes are the forunners or something like that
but i dunno i jus tcant wait till H2
