I need some tips for online Halo PC and Halo CE please.

I keep stumbling into clan servers and getting owned by those clan members on Halo Normal Edition(retail MP; 1.04)and Halo CEand I'm at a big disadvantage because I just got the game. I need some tips for which weapon combos are the best and just good gameplay tactics ect. because I keep getting owned by EVERYONE! Thanks.
