Gettin those headshots

i cant get the good old headshots in with my pistol.. and am frequently finding myself lying on th ground dead before i can do crap about it...
does anyone have any tips on using the pistol and making it your friend (or my friend for the most part) or does anyone know any good sites that might help me?

obviously there is lag with halo, as with every online game, most of the time its not noticable like jumps and stuff but its there and most of the time thats what is causing it, ususally in pistol fights people are running back and forth and in circles, u have to make sure ur leading off to where they are going, for the pistol its usually not much but if ur aimed on them while they are moving u wont hit them most of the time, so u have to have that lead off in there, same with any other gun especially the sniper, the sniper and pistol are my two main guns so i had to relearn to use them in pc coming from the box because yes it is different, pistol is that little lead unless someone far away, and sniper is a pretty big lead, probably an inch or so on a 19" monitor, but after learnin to use them again, im always getting headshots with my sniper, still pistol head shots are not as often but getting those 3 perfect shots alot is not the easiest thing in the world, u have to work with peoples flaws, most out there on the net are not very bright, if u do alot of jumping and strafing they will never hit u, they will charge at u and just toss a nade in the direction u think they are going , and pistol them, if in an open area, make circles around them. Playing halo is not somethign u can explain how to do and you cant learn from reading a post, u have to learn from your mistakes, make intelligent moves, and know the game: know when to toss a nade, where to shoot a fuel rod, when to jump from a rocket... all these things u learn through time and playing, if somethings arnt obvious to u now they will be later. They will hit u "oh, maybe i shouldnt do that any more" or whatever.

Either practice against some friends to get better or just aim near the head when going to fire and make sure that you fire 3 quick bursts but dont hold it down press it like a 1.2.3 speed

or what i found works good is if you aim just above there heads it often kills them quicker. in about 2 shots or 3 but most of the time its 3. but atleast its better than having to shoot them like 15 times in the chest or something and is a great ammo saver.

If you shoot there body twice with the pistol it brings the shields down, then you can go for the head shot. One thing you have to remember is gravity. You have to aim just above the head (the bottom of the cross hair is a good rule of thumb) so that the bullet will have a better chance at hitting the head

i am pretty fgood with pistol fights in open areas casue i toss a grenade near them and it takes there sheilds down then u can shoot them about twice anywhere and you kill them

You just have to shot a little forward to hit the guy and thats the only way when the server is laggy.
You have to get use to it and you will be fine trust me.

and i just got back from like 5 gay games in a row on different servers...

1 server i kept sniping everybody and then one of the guys switched and kept tking me.... so i tked him back and i accidentally killed one of my own while killing him like 3 times and then it totaled 5 and i got banned

its all because of FUKING TKERS

it is easy to kill with a pistol...u just get a frag grenade..u throw it at the person and their shields will get droppe...then make a headshot and he is screwed....it killes them instantly unless u are playing with insane health limits like 300 or 400....then it will take 2 or 3 headshots....or just 2 frags...

Grab the shotgun,then select your pistol,run and strafe towards your target shooting them in the head,then when u see their sheild go whip out the shotgun and finish them.then when they are laying on the floor hit them with the butt of your gun a few times.This tatic helped me get 78 kills on bloodgulch.Is that a record?

If all servers had freindly on the game would be boring.I think it makes u a lot more careful,and sometimes can be a skill in itself shooting and avoiding your team mates.Ive been on servers b4 with freindly fire on and there is always some idiot who always blows up a hog whenever some1 gets in it,people like that will never get booted,cause they are not team killing.If u could get booted for being annoying all the people who use rod guns need to go too.U KNOW WHO U ARE!!!

well, myself, i got 167 kills on bg ctf w/ 16 people....but anyways, back on topic...

when with the pistol, no matter where you are, aim with the bottom right corner of crosshairs, and when someone is running, run in the same direction they are, and dont move your crosshairs as much, while looking, i find it easier to aim , while running to set up the cross hairs (to line them up with the people) also, yes 3 shots is the MIN that you can kill them in, all those posers saying 2, but you need 3, doesnt matter where you shoot the first 2, but the third always has to be in the head ALWAYS!

then give em a good hump and a couple of melees, then get on with life

i didnt want to know how to use n00b guns like the gay shotgun... i just wanted to know how to get headshots...

and here is my guide:


Headshots are all about LAG SHOOTING
which is where you shoot ahead of the targets head to get the hit

LAG SHOOTING is when you fire a shot, and your computer sees
the shot go off and hit the target... BUT... it takes more time (depending
on how far away the person lives) to travel to the persons computer... get
registered.. and then come back too you.... thus you should aim ahead...


another good idea for zigzagging targets is to throw a grenade in their
favorite direction forcing them to move a certain way... which is your
chance

fire ahead of where his head is moving

and boom a kill

another thing is to throw a grenade... melee immediately..... and then throw a grenade again at the other direction and you will do this in a 1 second motion.... which will at least lower their sheilds for an easy kill

NEVER hold down the trigger, lead your target(aim ahead of his movement), and uh, aim just a bit higher than usual. works for me. esp w/ no shield.

ha i never thought of that

one thing though is that i got auto banned from my own server that was running on another computer... it was because i was fighting back against a n00b tker who really sucked ass

and so he stole my sniper rifel after he tked me... then he purposely stuck my face with a plama when i was sniping.. and since my server count is 5 tks your out.. i knew that this could go on forever...

so i found him hiding from me and beat the shit outta him 4 times

i flamed him and then got all the others on the server to tk him too...

so he tked 1 more time....

then he tked again and was banned. So i was happy. and then two minutes later when i stopped to get a gunner in my worthog i kept sliding downhill and ran the n00b over... banning me

so i went and accessed the ban list on the other computer and took my name off... then i noticed that it was my 4th time getting banned! so i knew my dad had been playing! grrrrrrrr

my limit for the number of times you can get banned is 5 and that was my fourth... if i got banned again ide have to restart and rewrite the server rules....

the thing is i didnt have a rcon password so i couldnt acces the console. ;(

I know that really rapid fire isnt always the best, but a long time ago in CS I bound the fire key to the middle mouse wheel scroll. So whenever I scrolled the wheel it would fire on every little sticking point. You can shoot really fast doing this, but can you do it in halo?
