Dedicated server question
Dedicated server question
If there is a dedicated server set up remotely, how would I be able to set the settings on the server to have all vehicles or different settings like that?

I figured it out, and no help topic anywhere on it.
Maybe this can be stickied somewhere:
When you load normal Halo Retail, you can go create a Gametype.
That gametype will be saved in a chain of folders such as: \My Documents\My Games\Halo\savegames\GametypeName\
There should be two files, blam.lst and the name of your gametype.
Here comes the tricky part:
If you run a dedicated server on the same machine as the regular retail Halo, then all you have to do is open inits.txt (located in your server directory) and take sv_mapcycle_add bloodgulch for example, you want to change it to say sv_mapcycle_add bloodgulch "gametypename"
Just like that.
If you arent running it on the same machine, then it's kinda hard.
In the directory: \My Documents\My Games\Halo\savegames\GametypeName\
you will find your gametype, open it with a non rich text editor, such as notepad and you will something like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\Andrew\My Documents\My Games\Halo\savegames\New Slayer 5min Vehicle\New Slayer 5min Vehicle (New Slayer 5min Vehicle is the gametype name I chose)
It will basically explain where the file is located and how to get to it.
If you have remote desktop access to an FTP or something similar, then you want to edit the file to say where it will be on the new comp and copy the directory over to the ame spot on the other computer as it is on the one you are on.
Say I want to put it on another computer that is XP and has a username of workstation: C:\Documents and Settings\workstation\My Documents\My Games\Halo\savegames\New Slayer 5min Vehicle\New Slayer 5min Vehicle
It may be a little confusing, but once you edit the inits.txt again for that comp the same way, it should work!

I checked Gearbox and NUMEROUS of other sites. Never found anything, most I found was like:
[quote] You can create custom gametypes (using the full retail version of Halo) and include these game types on your server rotation. This would enable you, for example, to include a Rockets only game on your server rotation. To do so, follow these steps:
* Launch the full retail version of Halo.
* Under Multiplayer, choose Edit Game Types.
* Create a new game type (refer to the Halo documentation if you need help to do this).
* Save your new game type.
* Quit Halo.
