Question regarding cached map files

I asked this on xbox-scene, also, but as I'm still awating a response there, I figure I may as well ask here, too:

The transfer rate from my Xbox to PC (and vice versa) is really slow, and it takes about 22 minutes to transfer a single map, so it stands to reason I don't want to have to transfer a map more than once.

So, basically, which files are deleted from the X drive, and when? Is it all .map files, while loading another level, or is it the entire folder?

I'm looking to transfer a bunch of maps to the X drive, then just rename them to "cache005.map" or whatever, when I want to use it, instead of having to transfer them to my Xbox again.

Try changing the settings on your network card and that should increase the speed, or goto walmart and spend $30 on a new one like I did and mine goes about 30mbs.

I'll try that, but does anyone know about the cached files? When are they deleted, which ones are deleted?

I'm pretty sure that it replaces the oldest file out of the set for multiplayer when you run a multiplayer map (cache003.map, cache004.map, and cache005.map). Sometimes when you run different games, I think it formats the X, Y, or Z drives (Again, I think based on date last used)

So if I just change the map extensions to .bak, or whatever, will they ever be deleted by Halo? The only games I'd be running other than that would be Dead or Alive 3 and Splinter Cell (SC for the game save exploit).

That would work as long as you have Avalaunch or Boxplorer or somekind of program for your xbox so you can rename the files. If you have a modded cache file, transfer it to your xbox named like cache003(WOF).map and leave it in X drive. If you want to play that map just delete the cache003.map and then rename cache003(WOF).map using avalunch or boxplorer and then play the level.
