I Need some Help

Ok I applied a mod before to my halo game before, but for some odd reason I kept gettin dirty disc problems whenever I wanted to play multi using the blood gultch map. Oh by the way Halo is on my harddrive. Anyways I re-installed it back on my hard drive. So i did the steps to play mods maps on mutli but now when i start the game the changes dont happen. Now I know you get cache003.map to ftp to ur comp then i apply the patch and ftp back to my box then reboot my machine. Start Halo but when I start the multi game no changes happen. What step did I miss?
