well you go into the X, Y, or Z, drives after you load halo and the level you want and look for the cache*** files, if you want a sp map it's cache000-001 and mp's are 003-005 the most recent file is the map you just loadded, ftp that to your computer and then you can either change stuff with hmt, hht, sparkedit or a bunch of other programs(I like these the best) or you can appy the ppf files with ppf-o-matic. than you ftp the map back to the xbox, and play the map you just edited. hope that helps!

Thank you... Also is there a trainer for halo xbox that works on SP and MP. And is there a ppf program that you can use on the xbox:?:

Yes, that is correct. If you delete all the Halo cache files (halo will just replace them), and then play a SP map, it will be decompressed from the CD to cache000.map. If you play a second SP map, it will be cache001.map. If you play a third, it will overwrite cache000, and then 001, and so on. For MP maps, it's the same thing. The first map will be cache003, then 004, then 005, and then back to 003.
The other option than patching the cache files all the time (must have Halo on the hard drive) is to get the map in cache, then FTP it to your computer, ppf patch it with ppf-o-matic, then open the map in Spark Edit, and then choose "save map as compressed". Then FTP it back to the Xbox in the halo maps directory in E, F, or G (wherever you have halo) overwriting the map already there (must rename the map from cache00x to the name of the map in that directory). You might want to make a backup of all the Halo cache files on your PC so you can restore it back to original.
Yes, there is a PPF program that runs on the Xbox, it's called Halo Cache Editor. It patches cache files, and does simple meta swapping. The newer beta versions also allow you to save a cache file into a certain folder, and paste them back into the cache later (works great for SP -> MP conversions). It also has a hex editor, and can change the xbox's nickname.
