XInject problems

This isn't exactly a question about NMP, but I noticed that XInject is posted in the NMP forum, so I figured I'd ask about it here.

All I really want to do with XInject is inject weapon models from one level into another. I've tried to do this several times, but the game always freezes when I try to take out/look at the weapon. I even tried injecting the model of a weapon from one level over the exact same model of the same weapon in a different level.

I seem to remember something about linking dependencies, but I was pretty sure that that was done automatically in 3.2. At any rate, I searched the forums and was unable to find anything about XInject that didn't involve BSP's. I even tried downloading an old version of XInject to see if the readme would have anything helpful in it, but it just told me to do what I was doing.

Here's what I did:
1. Opened Bloodgulch in XInject and saved the pistol and pistolfp meta's.
2. Opened Halo and injected the pistol model over the pistol model and the pistolfp model over the pistolfp model. Yes to raw data both times.

I tried opening the Halo map I had injected into with HMT. When I clicked on the pistol model I got an unhandled exception and it didn't load the little picture of the model.

I'm pretty sure that you used to have to use HHT with XInject, but I was unable to find any information in the forums.

What is the VerticeFixer program that comes with XInject used for? I tried opening the models I had saved in it, but then it would just give me an unhandled exception when I tried to inject them into another map.

I didn't mention anything about changing dependencies because I'm injecting the pistol over the pistol, so none of the dependencies should change. I didn't mention anything about injecting a collision model because the collision model for the model I'm injecting is already there.
