I have a question on single player mods. I want to change the accuracy of a few of the weapons as well as the firing rate. Heres what I do.
1. I Ftp a map to my PC, and make a backup copy.
2. I decompress it with HMK v2 and save it in a different file.
3. I open it in HMT, And make the dissered changes and save.
4. I compress the map again in to my "Compressed Edited" file.
5. I ftp it back to my Xbox in the proper folder.
6. I start Halo on the edited map. As soon as I equip the modded weapon, the game freezes. ( The only weapons I mess with are the Plasma Rifle, Assault Rifle, and the Needler) But,..... the game doesnt freeze with the Needler. If I switch to my Assault Rifle, or try to pick up a Plasma Rifle, the game "Craps" out on me.
My question is, what changes are allowed to be made with single player maps?, and is there some kind of list for "Do's and Dont's"?
P.S. Im not modding cache files, just the maps themselves.

Basically, Ive only changed the accuracy and added zoom. But that was only to be a test. I wanted to make the Battle Rifle out of the Assualt Rifle and the equivalent to my "Battle Rifle" for the Plasma Rifle. (my girlfriend loves the plasma rifle) Minor changes, but if they work I'd want to go bigger.
Sorry to double post, but something needs to be said. I really like what you guys are doing here, posting tuts and the advise. BUT, when someone asks a simple question in "Tech Questions & Problems", and doesnt get any responses for 2 days and counting, theres a problem. If this is the wrong forums then a moderator should've stepped in and re-posted it elsewhere.
I know people come to the forums with questions all of the time and most of them are get the help they need, I'll give you that. But either the "Elite Modders" dont feel they need to waste there time trying to help the "nOObs", or nobody gives a damn trying to help out someone who has a genuine question. Equinox was the only one who stepped in and tried to help, and he doesnt even know about modding the Xbox.
EVERYBODY was a "nOOb" at one point. And the tuts are great, dont get me wrong, but most of them seem to be saying the samething. Almost word for word. It almost seems like, because Halo 2 is almost here, the "Elite Modders" dont want to help the "nOObs".
All that I ask is dont give up on us "nOObs" yet. Who knows, we might be able to help someone else out in the future
