editing .dat files for farcry instincts evolution

hey i realize this is halomods.com and not farcry mods, but no such site exists for modding XBOX farcry instincts, although the pc version is heavily modded, however the formats of the files are different with pc vs. xbox

i'm trying to pioneer the farcry mod scene all by myself since no one else i've talked to is interested or cares to help, but only one problem...

so thats why i'm calling on your help, i'm exgagerrating the noob thing, i'm not completely stupid, and i'm not going to obnoxiously ask you to do everything for me, i just need help with this one thing to get me started

i've downloaded the sdk and c++ dlls for the modded farcry pc version and haven't been able to open or extract anything out of the .dat map files i'm working with farcry

let me explain what i'm working with, in halo the only map concept is that of stock maps that came on the dvd, and thats where you start your modding, however on farcry there are two kinds of maps, yes there are stock maps that come on the dvd and are around 50-70 megs each, but then there are also custom maps, which are user created , these custom maps are usually anywhere from 1-3 megabytes (obviously they aren't the full maps, but rather a map of where sprites go i suppose),
so realizing this we have 2 opportunites to mod maps, stock maps and custom maps, the cool thing about custom maps, is that they are automatically transferred and downloaded from the host on multiplayer
so imagen if you mod can be instantly played and installed on other people's xboxs without any complications, and even noobs can play modded maps, its like mods heaven lol......

i'm interested in modding these custom maps as of now
these custom maps consist of 4 files:
1 .dat file which is usually 2-3 megs
1 .dat.sig file
1 .fat file
1 .fat.sig file

most of the data is found on the big .dat file as it is the largest of the 4
i've opened it in hex workshop but little is anscii and everything is undistinguishable in hex, i need some kind of program to properly view it so i can see what is going on in the file

this is where i need your help, please take a look at these files and see if u can find a program u can open them up in to extract anything about them, and see what u can find, because i've had no success so far

currently i was trying to find out where xbox live has signed the .dat file in the file itself, so i can distinguish between sigs and map data, so i've uploaded some sample system link custom maps and xbox live custom signed maps, for you to play around with
