How do you make your program save things like text files?

I was wandering in VB how you make your program save text files and stuff, because my program halo score keeper, i want it to be able to save your scores

vb im guessing? theres sum c/c++ programmers here so they might not no wat ure talkin bout if u dont tell em.
im not sure how to save text though sry, ill post again if i find anything about it
