Everyone can post their wierd/cool/stupid modding ideas here, so maybe some modders will see them when they can do this stuff.
I would like a Natural Selection(mod for Half-Life where you can be human or alien) type mod. You can be human or Covenant, and it would kinda work like this:
Human-
You start as a normal Marine. You can work your way through the ranks and like every ten kills you rise a rank(first your a private, then sarge, then ODST private, then ODST sarge, then SPARTAN-I, then SPARTAN-II, and guess who's next?).
And of course, every rank gives you new stuff. Rising to a new level actually gives you the armor and stuff, but if you go from private to sarge you get a new skill(remember Firearms, another mod for Half-Life?). Like you can pick medic, or maybe stealth, or battlefield agility etc. And there would be two levels for some skills(medic- First aid, then Field medic... etc) as well. Equipment depends on class(sniper, gunner, and so on).
Covenant-
You can pick whatever kind of Covenant you want, but there's a limited player amount for each. You can get higher ranks in the species too, but equipment is based on species(some have choices, like Elites can pick plasma rifles or needlers, Grunts can have needlers or plasma pistols). You get stronger automatically through the ranks(blue Elite to red Elite, you're faster, maybe jump higher, etc)and the highest rank might have another weapon to choose from(Spec. Ops, or black, Grunts have fuel rods).
Other stuff-
Class suggestions:
Sniper: S2 Sniper Rifle(duh), M6D pistol, okay to fast movement, kind of light armor.
Gunner: A new weapon, like a minigun or machine gun, and M6D, heavy armor, but real slow. Along with nades as well.
Trooper: MA5B Assualt Rifle OR Battle Rifle, M6D pistol, two nades, normal movement and armor.
Demo-man: SPNKr(I forgot the number-thing name) Rocket Launcher, M6D pistol, four nades, slow movement and med-to-heavy armor.
Scout: SMG(from Halo 2), pistol, one or no nades, fast movement, light armor
Technician: Shotgun(I forgot the number-thing name for this too), repair-beam-thingy, ability to make a human turret of some kind that is operable or just AI-controlled, normal-to-light armor, normal speed
Heavy trooper- MA5B Assualt Rifle OR Battle Rifle, Shotgun, two nades, normal armor, normal-to-slow speed
Species rank suggestions- abilities include speed, strength(melee attacks), jumping height, intellegence(able to use different human weapons or atleast research them to use)
Orange Grunt- normal Grunt's abilities and stuff
Red Grunt- 15%-25% higher abilities
Black Grunt- 35%-50% higher abilities, fuel rod
(tell me if I missed a Grunt color)
Jackal- used as a covvie "sniper", about as fast as a black grunt, a little less stronger than Elite
Blue Elite- normal Elite abilities
Red Elite(a.k.a. Veteran Elite)- 15%-25% higher
Gold Elite(a.k.a. Commando)- 35%-50% higher
Black Elite(a.k.a. Spec. Ops.)- None higher, but ability to camoflauge for a short time
Stealth Elite- these have permanent camo but ONLY have a plasma sword, and strength/speed is same as Commando's
Hunter- used as covvie "gunner", can ram someone with their shield but there's a short delay to brake after, the fleshy part is quite vunerable
Weapons/Equip.- these are choosable as you go(ex. make a red grunt use needler)
Humans are explained
Covenant-
Norm. Grunt- needler, weak armor
Red Grunt- plasma pistol, one plasma grenade, somewhat stronger but still weak armor
Black Grunt- fuel rod, one plasma grenade, slighty weaker than Elite's normal(not shields) armor
Jackal- a new covvie sniper rifle of some sort, plasma pistol, hand-held shield, no armor/nades
- all Elites have plasma pistols as well as their main weapon
Blue Elite- needler, two plasma nades, normal Elite armor and shields
Veteran- plasma rifle, two plasma nades, stronger armor same shield
Commando- plasma sword, three plasma nades, same armor stronger shield, choice of Stealth Elite
Spec. Ops.- that new rifle thing found from Halo 2 footage maybe or somethin' else, four plasma nades, stronger armor same shield, ability to camo for a short time
Hunter- fuel rod cannon, hand-held metal shield, ram-attack, very strong front armor but a weak backside on the fleshy area
Long, ain't it. It's a total conversion; it takes a lot to explain what everything is changed.
