I am making this map and its been coming along nicely so far, but I have one question.

Can someone please tell me the simplest, sure-fire way to fix multiple edges in 3ds Max 6? I am making a really nice map that I would like to complete but I have this one door wway that has multiple edges, I dont remember doing anyhting differnet than the other times, but for some reason it said I had them. Any help is appriciated.

And yes, I have followed kirk4's tuts several times.

add lights as scenery or make the map lighter??

if ur makin it lighter use radiosity in sapien or run it thru tool.....if u want lights like from the ceiling (idk if they actually give off light) you can find them in premade tags and stick them in with sapien

well the level is completely inclosed so i dont know if i can make the map lighter... theres no sky... and i used the scenery lights, but they dont give off actual light around them... they are just there... i want to know how to add actual lights almost like sticking a flashlight ont he ceiling. know wat i mean?

btw any feed back on the map itself???

ill be sure to work on that... i started off making it a reference to alcatraz but i spelled it wrong on purpose... anyway. this is just the beta vesion because its the first level that ive ever attached different boxed to create the different room effect. i just recently found out that in order to attach object you dont always have to delete and recreate faces... you can simple delete the two sets of faces that will be converging and weld the vertices. also... as a side note. if you want your rdiosity to go much faster, run it with out a sky first. then add the sky later.

thanx for the feed back, keep it coming.

I'm looking to start up a team for this map. I need:

Someone to make and apply textures.

A secondary modeller (I will do most of the work in that category)

And someone who is good with Sapien and guerilla. (I can manage by myself, I just think a lot of you out there could do a much better job)

So I'll let you know with the next update.

it says in the HEK tut how to make lights, say on ceilings....it has to do with a shader symbol so that it gives off it's own light.

EDIT: sorry, i just looked it up. you have to edit the shader in order to have that material give off light.

thx... that helps... ill check that out... for now i am just adding skylights to the roof... and giving them the +sky texture. maybe that will help add in more light.

ill start a beta tester list later...

Update #1

I have added the skylight windows, and I have started a ladder area to go up to a higher level of the map.

When creating a ladder. What do I have to do... do I create a plane that goes along the legnth of wher the ladder of and then give it a material of ladder^ or what? I'm not sure but this is essential to my map. I tried making a plane but it was only on the ground. Please let me know.

make your plane where you want the ladder, and say the material name is "rungs". then to make it a ladder you would make the material name "rungs%^". without the quotes..

well thank you for that little tid bit of fucktard you show every once and a while... but i never said that the map was hard to model. it might be difficult for ME to modle because im not very good at it. so maybe you should stop spamming peoples topics and go fuck yourself. :D sound good? no? no one cares.
