They are making a halo mod for Battle field 1942. I dont know if they knew about halo being released for PC when they started but the models do not look nearly as good as the actual game.

The game is copyrighted. They'll get in trouble if they release it without EA's permission.

no, they arent releasing original models or anything, its all models from sight, and so everything sux cause its "homemade" and since they are not selling the mod its not quite illegal, a laywer could easily find a loophole to make sure they dont get in trouble...

You don't understand. The idea of the models is EA's. EA can sue them. Doesn't mean they'll win, but I know I wouldn't want to mess with the biggest gaming industry so far.

Also, if they created warthog mods. They can still be sued. It's just a matter of time.

ideas can be used, there is no loss of money in the process to EA so nothing can be done, i mean sure, the could sue, but its impossible to get money as none has bean taken or earned, and since parts are original, the name doesnt matter, as they are not saying "EA HALO" or anything like that, they could argue the fact of halo as a halo around a planet, in a ring like shape in which they saw a cloud in the sky in the shape of this vehicle they named after there pet dog: warthog.. or sumthing like that

Um, what? Why the hell would EA sue them? Wouldn't Bungie or Microsoft do the sueing? If you're arguing about their models, then all mods should be sued because they are on the BF:1942 engine... shouldn't they?

There is all sorts of legal thingys on mods. Most of the time, the original game manufacturer actually owns the rights to all mods, just look in some readme's or legal things, its usually there. Microsoft would pretty much be the only one to sue. Bungie has had interviews saying that they were impressed by modding on xbox (Halo and others), but Microsoft isn't very friendly with modders and hackers to say the least. But I'm pretty sure Bungie has all the rights to the models & etc., not Microsoft.
