[1st attempt] AK-47

Post by SFlpm »

Story
Ok, I spent a bit of time to construct my first model. It's a Автомат Калашникова образца 1947 года A.K.A. an AK-47! I know it's pretty sucky, but tell me what I need to improve on!

Gun modeling is not really my department, but it is way too boxy.

that should solve it

in the mean time, try not to make a plane of the weapon and then extruding it

Gun is much to thick and boxy. Barrel isn't even round and much to square.

Absolutely horribly boxy and inaccurate, the magazine does not have a single bend in it, it's actually curved. no smoothing groups, oh did i mention extremely boxy and inaccurate? look up some tutorials. and start practicing plane modeling, best, quickest way to model something low poly but with good detail.

Aha-Aha...not funny.

Good try, but as others have said; read some tutorials. It will help tremendously.

WAY to boxy. Don't be afraid to use extra polies. Your allowed up to 5000, so use em. For example, that banana clip has only one curve. You can put alot more than that. However don't go TOO crazy with poly usage.

For some reason, the computer I'm currently on won't allow it. When I goto edit my profile, it just reloads the view profile page.

Please don't bump old topics mang. Also, you don't want to learn off this guy he's not going in the right direction anyways. Watch some tutorials, go look at that "modelling for dummies" thread in the art studio forum, there's a link there to a great tutorial.
