can only see skins at close range

Ok, I have been messing around with skins in halo for mac. I have successfuly made a few weapon skins, that i can see across maps. When i try to create vehicle skins, i can only see the skin when i am right next to it. I have downloaded a few vehicle skins, and i can see the skins from cross map. I don't know what is wrong. Please some one help.
