Energy Sword in Sp or Mp?

Is there any way to use the elite's energy sword in single player or multiplayer. I tried the hex editor for single player but the dreadful execption error always pops up.

teh best anyone has gotten was the sword but just a clear blue look to it, no particle effects, u can see the glow on the ground not the sword.
