you can open them in gmax, but you can't save them
but if you get milkshape or something else that can export them as .obj, then you could just do that

I just found something very strange: GMAX and 3DS max are both made by Discreet... I thought they were competitors!
but yeah, why not just use Milkshape?

You just now found that out, HunterXI? lol...
Anyways, how could they really be competitors? gMax costs nothing, while 3DS Max costs thousands of dollars! lol...
But, ya, gMax is basically a toned down version of 3DS Max.

well that's really confusing namewise... why not've called GMAX "3DS min" or something?

Please dont give bad advice milkshape is the worst Modeling program out there Gmax and 3ds Max are better and Spartan just keep looking around you should be able to find one trust me dont use milkshape (i like to call it Milkshit instead :p)

milkshape is very bad but it is very stable for halo modeling, discreet made gmax for the purpose of making game models, they knew gamers usually couldnt buy max so they made the toned down version.

Right. Just because the program is more stable with Halo doesn't make it a _better_ program. Hell its not even a variable that should go into the comparision process.

you cant use it cause it messes with the things you just said! you cant change .obj to something else and back without changing the number of something!
