This is my first Plane model
I
do plan on tagging this up and making a tag to put it in CE, I just have to figure out the bitmaps and all that shiznizzle.
Heres the reference image I used:
And heres the render of the modle kai?
I will work on it a bit. The clip is in the back and it has a secondary fire, which is a shotgun blast. Which is why it has two triggers.

to be honest, it's extremely bad. start over after going through some good tutorials.
here's one to help you start on the right foot.

whatever links are in that tutorial, you need to click it.
Thrifty, i take it that you're not a modeler based on your comment

It could be good, if you're good at skinning (but who is... lol.)
I wouldn't call it 'bad' persay, I would call it A WORK IN PROGRESS, not something to scrap.
I would work on making it more 3-d ish, because right now it resembles more of a sillouethe(sp!!) to me.
sill-o-uete. wateva.
Keep it up!

Yeah I looked at that and none of the downloads work for me, Im still workin on it though. I used SMASH's tutorial and took what I knew from that and put it with this. I like it a lot though considering its my best model ever. Here, compare it with this:

Lawl. Im still going to put in some details into the rifle though, and smooth it out more too, especially the clip, cause that is pretty ugly.

Wow. can you shut up please?
I agree in that some models are hoplessly messed up, and could not be made good by any texture. However, this is not one of them. This is a good start to a model. Notice the WIP? that means Work In Progress. Thas means it's not done yet! That means, he's probably gonna make it better by doing some more work on it! Wow! What a concept!
Exactly how old are you?

Dude. You, sir, just flamed one of the best modelers here. Snaf's work owns anything you could do, if indeed you can model at all, I model and am probably somewhere just above average but I could NEVER hope to be as good as him. He's right, the model is boxy. It can probably be fixed, but in its current state, all it's really good for (no offence M-G) is a low LOD mesh. It's a box... A box. Please, take note of who you flame, or GTFO.
M-G, I dunno how you modeled that, but try modeling each part separately and building the detail up like that. It shouldn't be a problem, you should be able to get that looking better easily.

Wow. So he can model. Does that give him the right to flame someone else? I don't think so. His first post was 10x the flame of any of my posts. And to answer your statement, as a matter of fact, yes, I can model. But I haven't ever gotten really into low-poly, and I just started max. I am a hardcore Blender user, and can yes, in max, you probably can outmodel me. I respect your talent. Well, I did, before now.
Kinda funny to me, whenever your idol gets in a tight spot you all rush like ant lions to protect him, and take his viewpoint, no matter what it is. I'm not just talking about this thread, I'm talking about the whole site in general. Now rossum, after looking at some of your posts, it looks like you are intelligent, and fairly familiar to the whole Halo modelling scene. However, I cannot respect you if you and your fellow 'gang' rush in and just call a model sux0rz without any helpful suggestions. I frequent a blender site called elysiun, if you visit there, you can see that even if someone posts a model that is obviously one of their first, it is good, and alot more civilized to point out what you see wrong with the model. Make helpful suggestions. Help someone to get started in something that you obviously find fun.
Now, continuing my rant, I am not saying that this should turn into a forum of everyone telling everyone else that they have a cool model. I think that this forum is kind of like today's music culture, if you do not have an established name, noone like you, but if you do somehow get your name out, you can release any old thing, be it boring, be it an hour's work stretched out over the course of a month, but people will idolize it (In my opinion, Draco 2.0 is rather simple, I would call it a couple days worth of modelling at most, give it a week or two for all the other stuff because I suk at it

.)
If you do not like a model, please post your opinon so. But do not just leave it at, "man, that model sux. redo it to my liking." Post why you do not like it, but do not make some horribly derogatory negative statement, just because you do not like the style. If you have read this far, thank you.

ANT LIONS!!! GO HALF LIFE 2!!!! YAY!!!
Its an OK model. Better than anything I can do, and your right, the mag is pretty...messed up. I looks like you just put lines around it, then buffed it out or something. Like what I did with my ariakon model. SO Uh. yeah.
But still, Its better than what I can do. (logos) lol.

what snaf says is not flaming..he is telling them what he thinks and tryin to help him get better,
you sir are flaming now do us a favor and hush child.
you know whats kinda funny to me? when some inmature child can't take it when people don't like someone elses model and they feel the need to take offense to it, and its not even their topic....
now on topic. snaf is right. it is quite bad, the model is flat
look at all the tutorials snaf just posted and start over it'll probably look much better.

I'm going to stop replying to this, I suggest you do the same, because it's obvious we both have differing opinions, and neither side is willing to change.
Arguing over the Internet is like running in the special olympics. Even if you win you're still retarded.
I said I will stop here with the dispute. But be warned, if you try to keep this discussion alive, I will post funny pictures of retarted people. and they will have your name with an arrow pointed towards them, because thats funny somehow.
So if you want to think you've 'won', because I'm going away, then have that honor. Personally, I think the model would be quite workable.
By the way, can I see a wire render, to see the geometry? Or can you do wires in 3ds, i'm not sure... so used to blender *wishes he could write a .blend to .jms thingie*

We are really off-topic guys...
Neways, it likes you just splined it multi. I bet that's what you did

, but it is still a work in progress. If you want some good feedback, you may want to start on some detail before posting. And reading Katarn's sticky really helps more then you think it should. Especially the things you should watch out for. But never give up

Its ok but follow the Plane Modeling Video tutorial that Snaf posted.
But I agree here on Halomods many people are rubbing their faces in

If you tell me what this weapon does, then i'll rate it.

If I still don't understand, then you could show a movie of someone using this weapon.

Striker, you're the only one flaming in this thread. you're not even worth arguing with. so far, i've been the only one helping him. if you want flames i can bring the gasoline and the matches.
when i was a little newbie, i was doing models like this (only with splines so they probably looked worse). there were people who said things like you, and people who said things like me. i asked them why it sucked, and i listened. now, i'm a pretty damned good modeler, and that's only because i actually listened to the people that knew what they were talking about. they pointed me to tutorials, and i watched, i learned, etc etc. it's all getting in good practice. i'm glad someone came along and told me to check out this and that tutorial before i got into bad modeling habits, which is how i'm helping him.
Multi, do you have more references than that one image? if not, you'll want plenty more, from multiple angles. they should be well lit scenes as well, as shadows and low light levels can throw off your understanding of form. pm me if you need any questions answered, and i'll do my best to help you.

snaf doesnt flame, he gives the truth and if you dont like that get out. and i agree %100 that a good skin wont help this model out.
he also tried to help did you see all the tutorials he posted...
