I have been working lately on remodeling the Needler (which is something I've been wanting to do for the longest time). The model is basically taking the Needler and turning it into a rifle type weapon. (specific details later).

I have done some adjusting and creating and looking for some feedback. I have two versions (tell me which you like better), one with needles showing and the other without. (I'm also planning on making a third version where the needles are showing but are deeper into the gun).

The pink sphere in the side is actually the ammunition catridges being used as a clip.

You can see some slight adjustments; The two up and bottom bases of the original gun are put at a less extreme angle to each other and then the entire body actually extends out. In the back, you can see the handle of the weapon and behind that is just something put in for decorative shape.

Some things to know: I suck at skinning. I'm not new to modeling but I am used to the program Inventor9 used for manufacturing and what not. I'm not the best at Gmax modeling. Also, this is just the basic ship I wanted to use so little details have not been included as of yet.

what are the things on the sides behind the purple cartridge? needles come out of that, smooth out the top were the needles were, then have a few needles come out of the bottom guard for a good meele effect

More or less for decorative effect.

The bottom was s'posed to be used so it would be held like an Assault Rifle. My plans for this weapon is to make it a heavier weapon (as far as power) than what it was originally so it would fit under the catagory of Rifle (where now it is techincally labeled under the pistol catagory...not sure why).

What I could do is have the needles come out the front end of the bottom but have them facing out for a good melee attack and still leaving the ability to hold that part without killing your hand.

Now the needles on top are deeper into the weapon and the bottom has them faceing the other direction. Now, as an added bonus, the weapon can hold (roughly) 50% more ammunition than the original.

(I also lengthened the butt of the weapon a bit)

EDIT 2:
If anyone has some decorative ideas for the rear of the weapon, feel free to help out, I can't think of anything to add at this point yet it seems unfinished.

The needles on the bottom are going to make carrying that thing a somewhat painful experience Looking good.

Reminds me of a crab claw.. But that does look very good.

Yeah that was my first thought but I reversed them so they face the other way and they only cover half of the bottom so that you could have room to comfortably put your hand (sort of ).

This is a great idea for a weapon. The model looks good too.

I guess. Heres a thought if you put it in a mod: have increased rof and decreased power

that looks like a cannon type weapon lol, it would be cool to have it shoot a bomb the size of a plasma nade that homes in like a needler and sticks before exploding
the guns shape just reminds me of plasma cannons(aka fuel rods)

the reason I think it seems like a cannon is the energy tank, and big body\nozzle lol

well, for what u want it to be, make it shoot needles that move 1 2/3 faster than normal needles lol... normal needles are slow, man they would be slow for like 15 shoots a second lol, in halo PC mods people have faster rate of fire, and the needles become slow think streams lol, so speed the needles up to when u speed up firing rate
