Sometimes, the only way to get a problem fixed is to go on a "friggin hunt" for it. Don't get pissed at us because we couldn't solve your problem in one post. I, myself, have never seen this error before, and I can't give you an exact solution, and I doubt anyone else has seen it, either. To be honest, I'm sick and tired of people expecting an immediate answer to all their problems. Show a little patience, and try to figure some stuff out for yourself, ok? </rant>
The only thing I can tell you to do from here is to open the gmax shortcut's properties, and add -h to the end of the target, the same way you add -console or -devmode to the end of a Halo shortcut.

Experiment. Find out what options work best for you. That's what my rant was about. I understand you think that we know the answers because we have more experience with these apps, but you have to think for yourself. We're not gonna be around every time to walk you through every problem.
Also, check autodesk's site. I'm not sure if they still have a GMax help section up, but it's worth a shot.
And if ALL ELSE FAILS, Google is your bestest friend in the world. Period.

Making a map and fixing program bugs is a hell of a lot different.
