[WIP] Ship Model

I only started modeling recently, in fact this is only about the 2nd or 3rd real model I have done, and I don't know many of the tools yet. I modeled this in GMax. It only took about 30 minutes, and has a really bad lighting job, but heres a Beta.

If someone could tell me how to skin/unwrap using GMax, or maybe give me a link to a tutorial, that would be great.

Pwnage. For a n00blet. Maybe.

Look at those awesome low poly, one cylinder rockets.

Sorry if it doesn't look good with white on grey, I just used white for the sake of simplicity.

Feedback pwease!

The hull is alright, wings need detail.

vehicles have much more complex geometry than most things. try to model other things before you move on to modeling vehicles. what else have you modeled?

Snaf, I was the one with the really bad Covenant Architecture. I am just practicing. I am modeling different things and trying to learn all the techniques.

And yes, I know, it isn't very good. Like I said though, I just started modeling. This is probably about the 5th time I've opened GMax and actually did something other then make shapes.

Even on gmax, their should be a set of buttons that have the numbers 1-32 on them, there will also be a button that says 'clear all', press that one. (this is in the Editiable Mesh stuff, on face mode, select all faces)

Got it! For some reason, the front got messed up, I tried to fix it but I can't.

Try removing all smoothing groups until you are complete. Makes life easier.

Looking a hell of a lot better than the first picture though. Great improvement.

Is it just me, or when I'm using GMAX, it feels like I'm more trying to trick GMAX into doing what I want it to do, rather then getting the GMAX experience?

I suggest getting 3ds max :)

There is a trial, and it's rather nice (stupid max 8 trial ended a while back, but I use 6, so I'm fine)
