I very rarly like to say this mostly because it never happens but i have to admit u are becoming one of the best skinners that I have seen, u have some great creativity, the drive to work, and u know your program, all things needed to be great, i like the avatar, the sig i think u should change, its too big and its the same, im sure u can make something awesome in the standard horizontal bar.

Oh yeah, I know that is a great compliment. I know Beastman has mad skills with modding. He helped me get started in understanding how the skinning works.

and beastman, your right, I need to make the sig horizontal. do that this week.

glad ya like em! Well it varies, some skins were harder than others. Master Chief took about.....3 hours. If i had to average I would say 3-4 hours each. Once you are done with one you keep the unflattened Photoshop document and boom you have a templete, cuts down on the time! Canadian warthog took me 1 hour, Had to find pics. And it was not overkill, I wanted it simple, elegant, yet cool as hell to look at while driving! plus I have used PS for a few years now.

Hey QUAG, how can i find out how to get a template from HMT3 into photoshop, and then after im done doing stuff to it, put it into DDS format so it can be applied. I'm just a noob but after DLing your collection it has made me want to skin or at least learn how. So any directing or tutoring would be greatly appreciated.

I just got adobe photoshop and the dds plugin and im ready to skin. I'm a big baseball fan so i was wondering if anyone thinks a decent first skin would be a HALOS Hog? Any thoughts would be good.

PS: is it possible to skin a wheel so that it only has three spokes(like the three points of an A) instead of the five, or does it always need five to work in game?

Hogs seem to be the default for new skinners, but it is so cool lookin, how can we not! go for it. As for the wheels you can put what everyou want on it. it is just an image you will be putting over the original rim.

Sorry about the quick posts but is it possible to erase the old rim in PS and then put a symbol or Letter (as in the A in Angels) on so that you dont see any silver?

You do not want to touch the original layer, leave it locked and make a duplicate layer, that will cover the old layer and you can work on that, if not you will have trouble exporting. Also note that the Rims on the hog are not totally flat, there is a sort of triangle on the rim that sticks out a touch, I used that as part of the desig in my TRON warthog. maybe you can work around it as well. that part of the model will always be there. On the new layer you work on, when you erase the original layer will show through, so you need to be creative and cover that. as far as the silver, I never saw any silver on the warthogs original rim. the flat surface will stay there, so try a black fill to try and mask it some what.

how about some baseballs for rims? This was done in 5 seconds so excuse. Image

When you start skinning, remember to make a spare folder to back up the original skins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then you can go nuts. never touch the original file save a copy as something else.[/url]

don't put it in the file formats folder. when you open the photoshop folder and see the plug-in folder just drop it in there. it most likely will be the only non-folder. as long as it is in the plug-in folder. at leastthat is how it is for me. I put a pic of how it looks in the plug-in folder in my tutorial in the documents section of files.halomods.com

How do you change colors, add design, etc... while keeping the texture so it doesnt look really bad?
