Get a fresh bitmaps.map off your disc and overwrite the bad one.

files Cab, choose a cab and map and extract the map using nwin RAR. use HMT to t extract the texture.

X:\FilesCab\Cab4.cab
Copy that to anywhere on your hard drive and decompress it and bam you have a clean copy of bitmaps.map. I'd use 7-zip to decompress it. It also can decompress a bunch of other kinds of files but that's irrelevant.
