New Map In Process (based on metal slug)

well i felt like coming up with something new so im making vehicles, map, character, and weapons based on the Neo Geo game Metal Slug, im doing all of the modeling on my own so its gonna take quite a while for this to get done, i am currently teamed up with Ultimate dragon so he might have in on the map.
here is a model of a metal slug I DID NOT MAKE (i downloaded it for free) but im using it to see how it looks like and i already started rebuilding it since the model on this pic has way 2 many polygons, the way im going is actualy pretty damn good, its looking good and the polygon count would be reduce by 80% (its realy that big of a difference)
Im also posting pics of the original game incase if u dont recognize what i am doing here.
if u had played u might remember that theres a variety of fun vehicles and weapons to use, as i get deeper into making the map complete i am hoping to add as many metal slug vehicles and weapons.

i need help on this little part, i finished with the top part but i cant decide wether to smooth it or not, so heres to same pics but one is smooth and the other isnt

take off the smoothing goup for now, and do them right... that last pick hurt my eyes x.x

yeah i kno what u mean, and yeah i am comtinuing to build without da smooth, but i say its better without it, the way im building it already looks pretty smooth so im going to leave it as is, unless its necesary to change it, boy does this have lotta work time to be put in 2. but heres a pic of the progress so far, by da time i finish im going to put 2 image of this, my model and the other one for comparison, so far its only like 3000 vertices (on mine) and before it was like 15000 Vertices
i just need the buttom body and the wheel body and im done.

heres a lil update, wheel body has been created (in a lil time i had) with the hydros, next is the regular body and animating it
it could use pics of more angles but ill do that when im done

k, im finaly finished, im posting a final reult of the model and 2 wire frames model for comparison, u be the judge on how big of a difference the polys are. i kno it didnt came out looking the same but i didnt added the minor details so that i kept low polys and i tried to make it as alike as possible, as u can see there are 4 wheels instead of the track (done for animation and supsension purposes) but in my opinion, i couldnt be happier with the results.
PS, all this was done on my EXCEPT the guns (slightly modified) and the wheel base (65% modified) as u can see the 1st pic is the original Metal Slug.

i noticed NuGraf comes with an poly reducer but it isnt free and i only got the demo which delets every 5 polygons. if any one has it or can get a hold of it (like in skool or something) plz let me kno so that this can be improved.
i did a vertices count (dont kno if it would matter) but its a lil above 5000, i cheked the warthog and also has above 5000 but there more models or parts (dont kno if that makes a difference or not) so i thought this was gonna be ok

i believe so..... keep in mind no vehicle should go over the 10000 poly limit. Also keep in mind the higher the poly, the more laggy the map. Furthermore, aim me if u need help =P

10000 poly max, well then my vehicle isnt so bad, i rebuild the guns so they are no longer original but the polycount is down to 8333 polygons in total, and im going to redo the wheels so that its even lower (all four wheels by itself are between 4000-5000 polys) so im going to redo them.

Ok, i fixed some things up and the final results came up with 6193 polygons, heres a pic and let me kno if thats a good amount of poly (its as low as i could get it) ill be skinning this soon which should add more details to it, i might end up changing the guns a lil bit for some style looks, looks 2 plain right now (unless i leave it like that and skin it as if it look like a chain gun)
and heres da pic (da spikes on da wheels went down from 8 to 4 since it was da part with da most polys, i just made them longer)

ok i managed to rebuild a gun with small polys, heres a pic of da new results and now the total of polys is 6585

yeah i been thinking about the controls, well i wanted to give it a metal slug feel and not a tank feel, so the top part will not be moving, it will always be aiming straight, but the cannon in front will be able to move up and down and the missle will have an arc shot, so that it shoot like the wraith or the plasma cannon so that u can shoot in a distance and the machine gun shoots straight and does not have an arc, its gonna move like the hog (not as fast of course) but so that u can turn faster, the move left/right would rotate the whole vehicle by staying in 1 spot and not having to move back or forward. if any of u got better controls post em up here and let me kno.

*Aiming Straight
*Aiming Up (i was gonna animate it to use the hydrolics and make the top part lean to an angle to make it look like its aiming up but creating more hydros add more polys, and adding other stuff so that it doesnt look plain at da buttom will add more polys, but i will attempt it and ill let ya kno the results.)
*Moving from 1 spot 2 onother and turning (like the hog)
*staying in 1 spot and rotating (slug on left=before, slug on right =after)
