Skinning Error

When I try to inject my newly skinned .dds, I get an error saying: "The texture you're trying to import is smaller than the existing data. HMT will will automatically update the size specified in the map file to match that of the image being selected." Then I press "Ok" and then get this further message: "Image being injected must be "DXT2 or DXT3".
Im using Photoshop 6.0, what gives?

Ah thanks, it works...kinda.
I created a texture in PS6 to make it look like a rock texture, but once I finally inject it, like only a little peice of what I created shows up, and once I launch the game, everything I edited is clear...kinda weird.
Any help would be appriciated, lol..its just been awhile since ive been back at this.

Well how can I just get around the problem or have it work with the DXT3 format? Damn, if its working for others, why is it giving me a prob?

its not working because your saving as dxt3. you need to save as dxt1. well thats what i did anyway and it works now

I had a problem like this with Helmets and Decals. I was told to open in alpha channel and then only edit the White layer. I have yet to try it because of work but this might be one way to get around your problem.

you know what?
here's an idea.
open the .dds file for whatever you want to edit
import the rock texture on top of it. (on the top layer)
scale it.
flatten the image.
save it as whatever you need to do (dxt1 1 bit alpha for warthog)
inject to halo map

or sometimes all you have to do is save it as "dxt1 no alpha" instead of with 1-bit alpha. try it cause sometimes thats what i have to do.
