Some of you (mb 4 or 5) may have encountered me in a game at hugeass talking about a map where you could fly such ships as the halcyon (POA) and Battle Cruiser (T+R). Well, I finally have a working beta of the map!

posting this again??
i'll ask you for the fifth time, since you never answered me before. is the bsp going to be REAL instead of a scenery model? and how do you plan to change the uber boring halls?
will the ships be full size? will they have correct collision? will they employ some custom physics or controls, rather than being modified from the banshee??

Ive answered this many times.
I CANNOT make the halls part of the BSP. Ive tried, and tried, and tried, and failed repeatedly. You cant have that many vertices in one spot. WAY too many. Not to mention, the bsp would be so huge because the vertices for the hallways would be repeated to smany times (300+ to be more precise) that it wouldnt work. No, they will never be part of the bsp. No, I dont think it matters. The only thing that it effects is decals such as blood and bullet holes, and most people will be spending so much time flying to and fro in their cruisers, no one will care.

2. it is ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE THE SHIPS FULL SIZE
They DO have correct collision models, but the RENDER RADIUS IS OFF.
3. THEY ARENT MODIFIED BANSHEES they have PELICAN controls, have fully custom physics, and have FULLY custom physics files. The next person who says they are modded banshees gets a nice little "[insert name here] is a complete [insert demeaning noun here]" in the maps secret room
I thank those of you who support me, and fown upon those who complain because I didnt set the render radius high enough. You want corrected collision models? Let me fix the dang render radius!

Oh yeah, one more thing:
The halcyon models were custom made using unsmoothed, 8 sided tubes.
THe Battle Cruiser was taken from T+R, where I found that it wasnt sealed properly (there was no top.. Why didnt they put a top!?) So i fixed that.
Once again, because the models were custom made, and I used the battle cruiser to make a map a while back (regret, which took place in space), I know it is sealed, I have fully working collision models. Once again, and hopefully for the last time, They are not boxes, they may appear to be boxes, though, because the "Render radius" is too low. When I increase it, it will encompass the entire ship, and the entire collision model will work.

sounds like the map will be awsome.
and i agree, it would be NEARLY impossible to have a full scale, it would take a VERY long time and by hthe end, you would probably need more than 4 gigs of ram, 2 gigs of disk space for the map, and have so many lights that a high quality radiosity would take at least a month.
so yes in realism it is impossible but theoretically possible ^^

Its not possible.
Why?
The map wouldnt even hold the station (I TRIED IT) and its only about 3 times bigger than one. That is NOT enough space.

If you mean me, hell yes i need a better GFX card, mines a freaking GF2.
But if you mean this because the map doesnt work, its a tool problem, you cant have vertices outside of um... 100000? idk, something like tat...

bacon can you post a newer beta with the newest stuff so i can film my movie and eveyone can see the cool human station. You should add acairo station style bridge to the human station.

I just read the email you sent me.
Unfortunetly, no.
My 3ds max wont load because i tired installing some plugins i had on my other computer, and i screwed the thing up. it may take some time before i can get it running again. The doors for the hangars are not even close to done yet, they dont animate correctly, they also dont have collison geometry. I cant make a bridge without 3ds max (cause i dont have the map in gmax)
So, you'll have to wait.

ok i'll have ultimate dragon or ashrew put a bridge into trep beta 8 for the trailer
And i'll just get the bridge scene on your inner_poa map and have dragon put the halocobs into that map so they can watch the battle or he'll put a bridge into trepidation.
