maya or lightwave demos?

I know these are extremely expensive programs but I cannot find a trial or demo. is there even one?

I know that Alias has Maya Ple but it sucks. you don't want it.

as for lightwave, I have no clue.

the learning edition for maya is fine, they took out some stuff that u may want but its worth a try anyway just to see how it is
