My very 1st model!

this is my very first model - excluding the funny box shapes.

It is the model of a M249-SAW Heavy Machine gun, and is about 1100 polys if i remember correctly.

ya. me 2. Its pretty good 4 ur first model, but u know that u have to get the polys down to about 500. However, nice! :wink:

I know i will probly sound like a losser but how do you make new shapes, is it with milk shape because i was looking for milk shape and it wouldn't download :cry:

i think it looks very nice for a first, my first sucked and i havent modeled ever since...dunno why.... im going to go at it again though :D

Yeah. I've seen far worse first models, I'd say my first was a little worse than this. Good job, clearly you're well on your way to modelling awesome guns...

The smooth button always screws up the models.

No, it doesnt. You probably apply smooth to the whole thing, am I right? Or you crank the smoothing level right up?

Smoothing works fine as long as you don't OVERSMOOTH. And some parts of the model may not always need smoothing, so you can leave those.

thanks for all the great support guys it is a work in progress and when i finnish i will probably need some help (ok a lot of help :lol: ) to get it in game which is what i am aiming for, oh and i will definatly keep modleing. Any tips or hints for modelling in gmax and modelling in general would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again for all the support.
