Texture problems related to the geometry of the object.

I'm having a problem with texturing *i think this is the right spot, but if not plz move this*. It seems that vertical or near vertical faces are getting very streaky textures in Sapian and Halo CE. When I view the level from above the textures are completely "flat" and looks like it was just a plainer UVW map, but its a box with the Z alignment selected. I am using Gmax and Chimp 1.6. *I have an awsome gpx card, ATI X600 AIW, believe; and halo looks awsome*
And just to add, I can not seem to texture any bases I make, the walls are also streaky *figures*, or non existant. I think the streaks on the bases are the stupid micro map, which would make the walls bare anywase.
