modeling programs

I am currently using milkshape to model. I was wondering what program would I have to get to do a model this good. Milkshape is simple to use but when I import models back into the game they come out choppy allot

I believe there was a post a LONG time ago in the forums concerning choppy models and how to fix them. I believe it had something to do with making sure you import all of the objects and edit them as a whole or something to that effect. ::Points to the Search button::
There are other modelling programs out there that surpass Milkshape in both features and quality, but of course most of these are very expensive (3D studio max, Maya).
