The gun, unoptimized, is 3300 polies. After optimising I may be able to get it down to 2000-ish, but I want to make a transparent magazine. So, after modelling 30 rounds in the magazine, I checked the polycount. It had soared to 114,000. So now I was wondering if there was any way I could model 30 rounds and the feed spring so that they look decent, but keep the poly count below 4000 or better still 3500. Any ideas?

Transparent.. well, the bullets shouldnt be that high poly, dunno why it went that high. Tried doing a optimization on them? Otherwise, you can either use an image, or dont go with a transparent clip, lol. using an image is probably your best bet, that is, if you cant get the poly count down.

EDIT: for your images, to make it look 3d, get side, front, and back images of the 3d model with the high poly images (can be done by pressing F3 in the apppropriate viewports and rendering (F9). Once again, thats if you use images :)

just skin them in there its a bad idea to create the actual bullets.

But I want to animate it so that when you fire a shot, the spring puses the other bullets up. So that way, you can quickly count up your ammo, since there will likely be no HUD. And I doubt that I can make a 2D texture look good enough to use on the gun.

Jsut so you know, each bullet is basically a 10-sided cylindrical shape with a section at the back booleaned away and another cylinder in the front, tapered in at the tip. And there are 30 of them.
